WHAT: The 2nd Annual Sneaker Law x Miami Law Competition will take place all day Thursday, March 2rd, 2023 followed by an invite-only post-competition party at HYP Miami.

 

Friday, March 3rd, 2023, will be a half day conference, followed by the final round of competition and trophy presentation.

From Kanye West to Kyrie Irving, in 2022, there were notable sneaker deals and partnerships that were terminated. The reasons for their termination are often not publicized, but likely involve breaches of agreements, especially morals clauses. This panel will explore what morals clauses are, what might trigger a morals clause breach, and how to effectively negotiate their terms.

In today’s world of customs, copycats and counterfeits how can you tell the difference between each one? What is a legitimate custom sneaker vs one that is infringement?  What are the legal implications of a sneaker that is sold as a commercial product versus one that is sold as a work of art? We’ll discuss how the recent spike of litigation against customizers, artists and art collectives is impacting the sneaker community at large.
